Of course, I am not a linguist and not expert in Victorian Era English. But Victorian Era is barely 100 years away. There are definitely many changes in words, slangs, expression over years in English. Evidently, there is noticeable difference between American and British English. However basic grammar and structure of English don’t change that much from Victorian era to now.? This medal was minted to promote Chung Ah-You’s Chinese collection, which was exhibiting in Liverpool, England. A quote from The Times was used: “There is no exhibition can compare it in oriental grandeur and beautiful arrangement”. You don’t need much education in English to identify there is a significant error in the quotation.? It is a typical Chinglish because I used to say things in a similar way. I think the medal was minted on consignment by Chung Ah-you. The language used was from the collector.? Again, this is my hypothesis. I could be wrong. Sorry if my statement offends you in any way.
