"James II 60-Shillings 1688, S5634, plain edge, medium gray toning with choice surfaces. Reverse design features the English crowned shield of arms surrounded by the collar of the Order of the Thistle. Believed to have been struck about 1828, using original dies, by the dealer Matthew Young; however, no contemporary or "original" pieces were ever issued, it is believed, so all known examples are the so-called restrikes. James II (1685-88) was also James VII of Scotland. This is the largest silver coin to show his portrait, being about 1mm wider than the English crowns of 1686-88, on which the portrait of course faces the other direction."
