Trade dollar was used for trading not for collecting......It was once very cheap no matter how early date it was per ad in 30's . In 30's, the price of bullion silver by weight was more than one dollar and in addition, US made trade dollar out of circulation. As a result, many trade dollars were melt down and sold as silver bullion. It is really luck to have a piece in that condition. It worths a lot. enjoy.
By the way, I saw a your cancelled check of Baybank posted on this website. It was very nostalgic to see a Baybank check. Baybank was a very small Boston local bank. It was the first bank I used in US. I witnessed the expiration of Baybank when it was sold to Bank of Boston, then Fleet bank, and then currently Bank of America. Time flies.....
